A Dorset Rhapsody for saxophone [soprano/alto] & ensemble]
Composed at the very end of the century, this rhapsody was designed for Julie Trevett to perform [saxophone(s)] in the big millennium celebration. The concert was given in St Mary's Church, Dorchester, as part of the Dorchester Arts Festival, and our orchestra comprised students from the then proud Weymouth College Music Department before its tragic dismemberment under new administration - the axe fell not just on my department, but on the college staffing stucture as a whole, so that within five years there was scarcely a member of staff left who I could recognise from the glory days. It seemed as though the entire academic powerhouse that had been Weymouth College up to this time was excised in the interests of frugality. A totally shameful process....
